I completed a five year term as Chair of the Department of Environmental Biology at the University of Guelph in 1989. I also served on numerous committees and groups, including the University Senate, University Strategic Planning Group and the Board of Governors. Owing to the close relationship between the University and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, I was a member of various advisory and liaison groups. The most prominent of these was the Ontario Agricultural Services Co-ordinating Committee which advised the provincial cabinet on agricultural issues. Within the university, I chaired the Presidential Advisory Committee on Equal Rights for Women and Men.
Construction of a $24 million Environmental-Horticultural Sciences Building was initiated during my term as chair. I played a major role on the Building Committee and was involved in the hiring of the architectural firm.
